Coworking: Misconceptions & Requirements in 2017
Co-working:
The notion thought up by Brad Neuberg in 2005 is recognized today as ‘co-working’, it is originated back to the basic principles of co-working from hundreds of years, where writers and artists practiced as communities.
Co-working requires physical place, and setting up the co-working community; because co-working is a communal working environment, generally an office where several employees are involved in wide-ranging independent activity.
Co-working is the ultimate choice of solution for many freelancers as it excludes the conceptuality of isolation that one might have experienced at home, where they are confined in the cage of distractions. Co-working spaces are a great way for the social gathering, while each freelancer still works independently.
Many co-working communities are constituted through casual co-working events being organized.
It can take place in a private living room, or in any room with suitable environment for working.
Or it could be the right choice of public place: A gallery, library, café, or any multi-purpose premises.
“As it is playing a critical role in helping shape a world in which anyone can pursue work they believe in on their terms, and find other with whom to share their pursuit.” – Tony Bacigalupo
We cannot neglect the reality where everything that possesses a positive angle has the total opposite of that too. But keeping co-working in view, the advantages that it holds far outnumber the disadvantages it might keep.
In fact there are almost none, and if there are any found, they are but a mistaken belief.
Misconception About co-working:
One very debatable false impression about co-working is that it is similar to that of a regular working premise or environment.
A regular working facility covers suites, incubators, or accelerators.
The point of co-working will be missed if these are to be placed in its environment, as it never necessarily has to be the same because it will miss the point socially shared, collaborative, and informal aspects of the co-working process.
Does everyone in the community has needs of or would like to require a co-working space?
Not if truth be told.
However, a large number of societal populace needs that.
It can involve students, teachers, businessmen, website maintainers or its developers etc.
A few examples are discussed here as to who needs co-working space, why they would be in need of a separate space, and how it can be beneficial to them.
Corporate People Who Need Space:
To rent an office space as a freelancer no longer looks like paying thousands in one year rent for no good cause.
Many co-working spaces offer flexible monthly membership options that are based on what you might need.
Hence, it proves to be an exceptional and very reasonably priced option for freelancers and business owners who find it significantly necessary to have their own room of space to keep their business running.
People Who Need A Conference Room For Meeting Along With Projector
One beautiful aspect of freelancing is the location and its independence.
You can work from anywhere as long as you would a good Wi-Fi connection and your laptop.
It could be any place at all in the world: a coffee shop with great ambiance that could consent to the balance between being attentive to work and the professionalism, the soft bedding of lush grass, a comfy downtown bench, or your home’s rooftop.
But all of these choices are extremely inappropriate when you have to meet and deal with your client in person.
This is where rental office spaces are a winning cause.
Meeting in distracting café or a noisy home might lead towards the loss of client.
Also if the meeting requires the use of projector or any such audio visual aid then to even think about these places should be down the drain.
The clients love to continue business with you if you have satisfied them to their expectations, or when the offers are provided which your brand, company or product claims too.
Another important factor is to not letting the customer leave if they are not emotionally or mentally satisfied.
Students Looking For Private Reading Space:
Owning a co-working space or renting it may lead to further freelance opportunities catering to even wide set of clientele.
Many people strive to study abroad or from better and well-recognized universities within their city, which sometimes needs long travelling hours.
Many students prefer avoiding the travel time so that they could focus better on day to day assigned work and tasks.
Completing projects and meeting deadlines would make them want for silent spaces.
Hence, either a separate study room or seat in a co-working place would be needed.
For this reason they opt for a place near to their college or university when hostel life is not suited.
Simply put, the idea to the core of ‘co-working is collaborative’ is never created if the environment of cooperation for people or member of community has been failed at.
In comparison to traditional working environments, teamwork is the nucleus and the only important element of its type to the added potency of co-working.
People working as co-workers are legitimately recognized as important and as equal; also relations are not affected by difference in importance of assignments or tasks.
The essential aspects that support the very concept of cooperation between members of a community are:
- The sustainable facet of their interactions
- The multiplicity of their aptitude, expertise and capacity
- The constructive phenomenon that results after networking is generated
So if you are newbie to the concept of a freelancer or a successful one needing to think about the benefits of co-working areas; now is the time that you have taken this into consideration, because it gives:
- Openness and knowledge of different age group freelancers
- Rather flexible working hours
- The opportunity to dive into the ‘talent pool’
- Free consultancy
Co-working does not have a philosophy. It in itself is the philosophy – The philosophy that values the escalation of each other not for what you want from them, but for what they already have surpassed that in all the rest.
